Rosy is Managing Director of Thomas and Dessain, having co-founded the firm in 1997. She heads up the Legal Practice and specialises in senior finance industry and legal positions within offshore jurisdictions. She has in-depth knowledge of the legal profession, gained not only as an executive search consultant but also through her work as a Certified Master Coach.
Rosy is acknowledged in the industry for her expertise working on assignments to source candidates for director-level or senior finance roles that are not advertised and for identifying candidates with specialist skills who would not usually be discovered through traditional recruitment methods.
As well as her formal skills, Rosy offers highly confidential career discussions for professionals and lawyers who are at a crossroads in their career, or would just like to talk about the marketplace.
Rosy is a formally qualified psychometric tester and mediator, is currently a member of the Governing Body for the Institute of Law in Jersey, and plays an active role on the committees of several local charities and has an advisory role with a substantial family office.
Charles is a Chartered Accountant and Non Executive Director who advises on governance issues affecting different types of entity across all business sectors. Charles has used his experience gained from 30 years with KPMG, the majority of which was as a Partner, and six years as a Non Executive Director, to develop a range of governance services.
Charles runs what is believed to be the only offshore resident Non Executive Director database and bespoke matching service. This provides access to over 500 Non Executive Director candidates with a wide range of skills and experience, who can be shortlisted for final client selection on the basis of objective criteria, thereby bringing a professional process to the appointment.
Charles also advises on governance issues, including board structure and composition, and has developed a board effectiveness review service designed to be cost effective for offshore entities.
Karen has had many successful years’ experience as a recruiter in Edinburgh and Jersey. She trained in recruitment best practice through the recognised recruitment body, the REC, and has also trained in best practice research principles for sourcing candidates. Karen joined Thomas & Dessain in 1997 and in 2004 had a break from recruitment for five years, developing a new legal HR service in the Channel Islands. She returned to Thomas & Dessain in 2009.
Karen is responsible for sourcing permanent opportunities for candidates specialising in Accountancy, Trust, Funds, Company Secretarial, Compliance, IT, Marketing and Human Resources, predominantly within the financial services industry, but also non-finance related sectors.
Using a personal and consultative approach, Karen offers complimentary recruitment consultancy services to her candidates, such as identifying personal value and coaching in interview techniques, to assist them in securing new opportunities.
As business development manager, Karen is always actively seeking opportunities for all candidates registered with Thomas & Dessain.
Ross is responsible for sourcing permanent candidates for banking and investment roles and Thomas & Dessain’s interim management service.
With 15 years’ management experience Ross has substantial knowledge spanning various sectors including telecommunications, client outsourcing, finance and intellectual property. He previously specialised in a broad range of business areas including front-end client service, operations, sales & sales support, relationship management, contact centre activities and business administration. Ross is Prince 2 qualified and can provide advice and guidance for project management-based roles.
During his career Ross has had responsibility for working with recruitment consultancy firms and has therefore gained extensive knowledge of the end-to-end process including selection, interviewing and placement across different departments including administration, relationship management, team managers and senior management positions.
Hattie joined Thomas & Dessain in October 2006 having gained experience within the trust and company sector over seven years, five of which were obtained in the fiduciary department of one of the Channel Islands’ leading providers of offshore legal, fiduciary and administration services.
Hattie studied fashion and textiles at university and having graduated with Honours, took some time to gain experience of working internationally. She returned to Jersey where she used her broad academic and commercial experience to secure a role in the financial services industry, where she studied for and achieved the Certificate in Offshore Administration and is currently studying the ICSA Diploma.
Hattie specialises in advising on recruitment for graduate trainee and PA/secretarial positions.
Edward is a member of our newly established Junior Level Candidate Permanent Placements team. He has five years’ experience working in the communications industry where he has built a substantial network of contacts and has gained valuable on-Island business knowledge, including the local financial services industry.
Edward works closely with newly graduated candidates and individuals looking for permanent and interim contracts across all business sectors. As well as managing all aspects of the recruitment process for clients and candidates in this important part of our business, Edward will be overseeing some of the communications for Thomas & Dessain.
Emma is responsible for our Interims Desk covering all sectors for temporary and contract work.
With 20 years’ financial services experience, Emma has covered corporate, private client, relationship management, operations and risk.
Emma has gained skills in coaching and development from her years managing teams and has also covered end to end recruitment throughout her career.
Richard has built a distinguished and successful international career in investment banking including senior directorships at J Henry Schroder Wagg & Co in London and Singapore, the Chairmanship of Smith New Court International Agency operating in London and the Far East and Managing Director of Schroders (CI) Limited.
