Our client is seeking a dedicated Senior Manager for Banking & Investment Supervision. This full-time, permanent position is based in Jersey and plays a pivotal role in supervising all licensed banks and investment businesses within the jurisdiction. The successful candidate will take charge of setting clear priorities, making sound regulatory judgements, and ensuring that supervisory resources are directed towards the most significant prudential, conduct, and financial crime risks. Furthermore, you will cultivate strong relationships with senior stakeholders and establish yourself as a trusted leader both within the organisation and across the industry. In this role, you will foster a capable and high-performing supervisory team, ensuring that supervision remains risk-based and proactive. You will also focus on the early identification of emerging risks and deliver timely regulatory interventions, particularly for larger, systemically important firms. Your strategic relationships with government entities and industry leaders will be critical to successful outcomes, as will your commitment to continuous improvements in supervisory processes through innovative practices.
JOB DUTIES:
- Lead the supervision of all licensed banks and investment businesses in Jersey.
- Set clear priorities and make informed regulatory judgements to ensure effective supervision.
- Develop and maintain a high-performing supervisory team with strong professional judgement.
- Identify emerging risks early and intervene effectively to manage potential issues.
- Ensure a coherent supervisory approach across prudential, conduct, and financial crime risks.
- Deliver timely regulatory interventions for significant firms within the sector.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Government of Jersey, industry leaders, and international counterparts.
- Foster a positive and inclusive culture within the supervisory team that attracts and retains talent.
- Utilise commercial insight and regulatory expertise to navigate complex and evolving business models.
- Collaborate with various teams within the organisation to align with broader goals and promote shared values.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Significant senior-level experience in banking, investments, regulation, risk, or compliance is essential.
- A proven ability to lead high-performing teams and manage change in complex situations is required.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the confidence to engage effectively with senior colleagues.
- Familiarity with prudential, conduct, and financial crime risks, along with the ability to prioritise and take action based on data and intelligence.
- Experience in leveraging technology or artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance productivity and decision-making would be advantageous.
- Intellectual curiosity and commercial awareness are important qualities for this role.
