Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Business Risk and Internal Control Manager to join their Operations team in Guernsey or Jersey. This pivotal role involves implementing and overseeing the organisation's risk management framework, with a focus on both financial and non-financial risks. Job Duties:
- Implement and embed the Risk Management Framework across all operations, ensuring risks are identified, assessed, mitigated, and monitored effectively.
- Lead the first-line financial crime team, overseeing customer onboarding, periodic reviews, trigger event processes, transaction monitoring, and sanctions screening.
- Manage the Third-Party Risk Management Framework, ensuring all relationships align with organisational expectations.
- Develop and promote a positive risk culture, ensuring all colleagues understand and engage with risk frameworks and their responsibilities.
- Collaborate with the Company Secretary to design and implement Governance Frameworks, including annual reviews of meeting effectiveness.
- Provide overall management for the first-line risk and governance team, including setting objectives, performance management, and personal development.
- Sponsor and model organisational values and behaviours, addressing any examples of unacceptable conduct.
- Adhere to CPD requirements and the organisation's core values and expected behaviours.
- Perform additional duties as required by management.
Job Requirements:
- Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience.
- Preference for an industry-recognised professional qualification (e.g., IRM, ICA).
- Strong ability to communicate complex concepts and ideas in an engaging and accessible manner.
- Knowledge of risk management frameworks, risk processes, the three lines of defence model, and both financial and non-financial risk management.
- Proven leadership and team management skills, with a commitment to developing high-performing teams.
