Finance Manager, Operations

Job Description

This position offers an exciting opportunity for a Finance Manager to join a collaborative Finance team. The role focuses on driving operational excellence, managing teams, and improving finance processes, serving as a vital part of the day-to-day finance operations function. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Finance Operations and the Assistant Manager, overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank accounts, and cash management. This full-time role requires a proactive individual who combines hands-on financial management with people management, supports a high-performing team, and contributes to delivering a first-class finance service. Responsibilities include ensuring a smooth operational flow, guiding team members, and identifying efficiency enhancement opportunities. The Finance Manager will also handle cash flow forecasting and oversee the monitoring of unreconciled items.

Job Duties:

  • Oversee operational activities relating to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank account management.
  • Maintain a cohesive working environment while delivering reliable and professional service to internal and external clients.
  • Act as the escalation point for issues related to financial operations transactions, resolving matters promptly and implementing preventative measures.
  • Ensure that procedures, guidance, and training materials are kept up to date and consistently followed by the team.
  • Oversee cash flow forecasting to ensure adequate funding for operational needs.
  • Review regular cash flow and month-end reporting to ensure completeness, consistency, and purpose-fit information.
  • Monitor, investigate, and clear unreconciled items in a timely manner.
  • Review existing procedures and introduce improvements benefiting the Finance team and the wider business.
  • Manage foreign currency processes to control costs and optimise cash flow across multiple currencies.
  • Coach and develop the finance operations team, promoting a collaborative environment.
  • Provide guidance to the Assistant Manager in all aspects of their role.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies, streamline processes, and utilise available and new technology.
  • Assist in coordination for internal and external audits, ensuring timely, accurate, and organised responses.

Job Requirements:

  • Proven finance transactional operations experience, for example, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Credit Control.
  • Proven team management experience, with a desire to continue in a people-focused role.
  • Experience within an internal finance team.
  • Experience within a law firm or partnership setting.
  • Proven leadership and management of a finance team.
  • Strong operational and process improvement mindset.
  • Ability to manage stakeholders at the senior leadership level.
  • Experience in a service-based business.
  • Commercial awareness.
