Our client is seeking a motivated Compliance Assistant to support their compliance team in managing regulatory requirements, identifying risks, and fostering a culture of compliance across the organisation. Job Duties:
- Assist in executing the compliance monitoring programme, including testing and reporting on various compliance controls.
- Support the completion of periodic regulatory and internal compliance reports.
- Document and track compliance issues, incidents, and resolutions as required.
- Review and verify client onboarding documentation to ensure compliance with Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Combating the Financing of Terrorism (CFT), and Countering the Financing of Proliferation (CPF) regulations, as well as Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements.
- Conduct ongoing due diligence reviews of existing clients and ensure records are up to date and in line with regulatory requirements.
- Escalate potential risks or red flags to the Compliance Officer.
- Monitor relevant regulatory changes and assist in updating policies and procedures to remain compliant with the latest laws and guidelines.
- Assist in interpreting and implementing new regulatory requirements impacting company and trust administration activities.
- Support the drafting, updating, and implementation of compliance policies and procedures.
- Ensure that staff have access to up-to-date policies and that changes are communicated effectively.
- Support the Compliance Officer in organising and delivering compliance training sessions for staff, covering AML/CFT/CPF, CDD, data protection, and other compliance-related areas.
- Maintain training records and track completion of mandatory compliance training programmes.
- Maintain accurate and organised compliance documentation, ensuring accessibility and compliance with record-keeping policies.
- Assist in the preparation and submission of regulatory filings and documentation, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Provide general support to the compliance team, responding to internal queries, participating in projects, and assisting with audits.
- Engage in team meetings, offering insights or feedback on compliance-related matters, and helping to foster a positive compliance culture within the organisation.
Job Requirements:
- A degree in law (preferred but not essential), business, finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Familiarity with Jersey's regulatory environment, particularly relating to financial services and trust and company administration.
- Knowledge of AML/CFT/CPF, CDD, and KYC standards, as well as an understanding of global and local financial regulations.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies and potential risks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate regulatory requirements clearly and concisely.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with compliance software or databases used in financial services.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- ICA or other relevant compliance certifications (or the willingness to work towards such qualifications) are advantageous.
- Previous experience in a compliance, regulatory, or financial services role is preferred, particularly within trust and company administration or a similar field.
- Experience with Jersey Financial Services Commission (JFSC) regulations and reporting requirements is a strong advantage.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
- Capable of working effectively as part of a team, contributing to shared goals and supporting colleagues where needed.
- Flexible and able to adjust to regulatory changes and shifting company priorities.
