Job Description

4-6 month temporary position.  Duties involve processing sales invoices daily and posting to accounting system; dealing with extensive range of queries and requests regards preparation of invoices; posting office and client bank transactions; dealing with queries from Mauritius-based Processing Team for bank reconciliations and accounts payable; ensuring bank reconciliations performed on time by; co-ordinating daily payment run(s); processing payments and arranging approval for payments; raising cheques as required; arranging payment of payroll, accounts payable and other payments; managing accounts receivable to involve identifying overdue invoices, liaising with Fee Earners and following up with the clients to ensure settlement (a significant part of role); raising and posting invoices to internal and related companies; posting journals to accounting system; assisting with preparation of VAT return; reconciling and managing petty cash.
Candidate must holds/be working towards/interested in working towards accountancy qualification such as CAT); experience using law firm time-recording/billing system would be an advantage, however full training on systems will be provided; proficient in MS Office suite of applications, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook; knowledge of VAT very useful, but not essential as full training will be provided; attention to detail and the ability to spot and question data errors (words and figures); ability to prioritise workload and plan ahead to meet deadlines; flexibility – on occasions working beyond normal finish times will be required; excellent communication skills; ability to deal with a wide and varied range of queries and requests for assistance from throughout the business.
